Privacy-first design

environmentalreport.eu is intentionally built to minimise data collection. The core reporting workflow is designed so that the report content you enter stays in your browser during normal use.

  • No user account is required.
  • No advertising networks or remarketing tools are used.
  • We use privacy-friendly Plausible analytics for aggregate website measurement.
  • Report drafts are stored locally in your browser.
  • PDF export is generated locally in your browser.

As a result, we do not normally receive the report content you create in the tool as part of the standard workflow. Plausible analytics is used only for aggregate website insights and not for advertising or behavioural profiling.

What we may process

Even though report content stays local, some limited technical data is still processed when you visit the website because that is necessary to deliver and secure the service.

  • IP address
  • Date and time of the request
  • Requested URL and basic request metadata
  • Browser and device information sent by your browser
  • Limited analytics event data (for example page views, referrer and device metadata) processed by Plausible
  • Basic server, platform, security, and error logs

We use this information only to operate the website, keep it available, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues.

What we do not normally receive

In the normal local-only workflow, we do not normally receive or store the substance of your report, including company reporting inputs, draft calculations, or the content of the PDF export generated in your browser.

That information remains on your device unless you choose to share it yourself outside the website.

Purposes and legal bases

Where GDPR applies, the limited technical processing described above is used for:

  • delivering the website and its content,
  • maintaining security and availability,
  • understanding aggregate website usage to improve content and reliability,
  • preventing abuse or misuse, and
  • diagnosing and resolving technical issues.

Our legal basis for this limited processing is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. For device-side storage that is strictly necessary to provide the tool you explicitly request, we rely on the applicable ePrivacy exemption for necessary storage.

Analytics provider (Plausible)

We use Plausible Analytics as a privacy-friendly measurement tool to understand aggregate website usage, such as page views, top pages, and referring sources.

  • No advertising personalization
  • No cross-site behavioural profiling in our current setup
  • No sale of visitor data

Infrastructure providers

Vercel

We use Vercel to host and deliver the website. Vercel may process technical request data such as IP address, request metadata, and platform logs needed for hosting, caching, security, and reliability.

Plausible

We use Plausible Analytics for privacy-friendly aggregate website measurement. Plausible may process limited technical request metadata needed to count visits and provide anonymized usage trends.

GoDaddy

We use GoDaddy for domain registration and DNS-related domain infrastructure. This may involve limited technical data needed for domain resolution and administration.

GitHub

We use GitHub and GitHub Desktop for source code management and deployment workflow. These tools are used for development operations and not for handling visitor report content in the standard reporting flow.

Retention

  • Report content stored in your browser remains there until you delete it, overwrite it, clear browser storage, or use in-app reset or delete actions.
  • Technical logs are kept only for the limited time needed for security, troubleshooting, and reliable operation.
  • We do not maintain a server-side database of the report content created in the normal local-only workflow.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the limited personal data we process about you, and to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority.

Because the main report content stays in your browser, we usually cannot retrieve, correct, or delete that local content for you remotely. In practice, you can remove it directly by clearing your browser storage or using the in-app reset and delete options.
